Well, 4th of July was 'ok'. We took the jeep to the fairgrounds to watch the fairgrounds, and as we were waiting for them to start, we could see lightning on it's way to where we were. We decided that since we were pretty much in an open vehicle, it would be best to beat the crowds to get home, and well....lightning (lots of cloud to ground lightning to be exact) and an open field are really not ideal so better be safe than sorry.
We got home and we could hear the fireworks going off. Apparently they set them off early. If it had been me, I would have cancelled the show. I don't think it was smart to have a lot of people in that field with the lightning so close.
Even though we missed the real fireworks, the lightning was so spectactular that I stood outside the garage just to watch it. It was amazing!
On Saturday, we invited my supervisor, his wife and son to come over for a cookout and to have a bonfire.
The cookout was great, the gas cooktop flame going out and gas spewing into the house for about 5 minues, not so great, the 'smores were awesome, the fire in 100+degree heat not so good lol.
All in all it was a good time :)
I've updated the numbers for the Canadian Credit Card. I am about $1700 left from saying hello to being Canadian Credit Card debt free. Which for me is a huge accomplishment.
And another big thing for this, even though the majority of our debt was paid with the money J made in Afghanistan, the Canadian cards were mostly paid by me.
Now, I did tell you all that we had used the cards recently here for the house purchases. Well, we have gone a little overboard and we do have credit card debt again. But, while I am disappointed that we are back in Credit Card debt, I am confident that we will be out of it soon enough.
Most of the purchases were done knowing what our taxes would be and were going to be paid off with that.
Other purchases were things that we 'needed' but not necessarily right away. I haven't put any updated numbers for that yet, because we are waiting for the tax return to come in and pay a lot of it down. Once we have done that I will consider that our true debt.
Hope you all had a great 4th, and stayed cool during the weekend!
Our Journey to becoming less haunted by debt. There will be good times, and I'm sure bad, but in the end we hope to bring our debt down and manage our financial lives responsibly.

All Is Well
Went for xrays on Thursday, since I didn't feel any better and just to be sure I really didn't damage myself.
All is good. No fractures or deformaties in my spine, yay! So just going to be sore for a little while.
I continued to move things over to the new house.
Payment posted to my MBNA card. I cannot believe there is less than $5000 left on the card. Considering it got as high as over $20,000 on that card.
Back to work for me tomorrow after being off for 5 days. It's aways an adjustment getting back into the habit of talking to members after so much time off. Oh well, I'm good at my job, I'm sure it won't take too many calls to be back to my normal self.
I did apply to the supervisor position. I'll keep you all updated on how that goes.
Hope you all have a great week! :)

OUCH!!!!!
I knew that moving was going to be hard, packing things and moving them over has been going slowly but surely.
Today, before work I decided to get the rest of items out of the attic. There were only a few smaller things left up there that were not in boxes. I was literally moving the last 2 items down, when about halfway down the ladder, my foot slipped forward into the rung and I fell backwards. Boom! Ouch!
Luckily I turned to the side, because if I had gone straight back I would have landed on the vaccuum cleaner. Instead I landed on some soft stuff (well, my head anyway). My hip, back, foot and ankle not so much.
So I am taking lots of Advil, ice, and taking it easy. Including not going to work. I have a bad feeling I am going to be really sore tomorrow.
On a good note, the attic is empty! lol
I also made a $3950 payment to the MBNA. I will let you know the new updated number when it finally posts, because the statement may cut for it before the payment does, which would change the number a little bit.
It's amazing, a year ago, the interest would have changed it A LOT.
It's nice to see that number going way down.
I hope you all had a nice Easter. Another celebration without J. But he will be home in 40 days :)
I am so thankful to have a husband who has made the sacrifices he has, for a family who has been there for me while he has been gone, and for my fellow blog friends who have been supportive and keeping me busy reading their blogs for the last year :)

TGIF!
Although I work in Sunday, tomorrow is Saturday and I always have Saturday off...so Friday is always Friday for me (for some at work, they work Saturdays so Friday it is not)
Been moving lots of stuff, and I have a friend who has offered to help me move the big items so it will save me a lot of money and he'll make a few bucks which he needs.
Another large payment to the MBNA Mastercard will be made early next week.
Speaking of that card, here is the updated number for it.
Balance on 03/09/12
$12,736.88
Balance on 03/14/12
$8,736.88
Difference:
$4000
Now, lets go back to when I started this debt reduction!
Balance on 06/05/11 (when I first reported balances on the cards)
$20,442
Difference:
$11,706
I cannot wait for this final card to disappear, and be able to take the payments from that and use it for other things.
Hope you all have a great weekend! :)

Another Canadian CC Payment Made...Finally!
So we were paid last week. And on Monday I did a remote deposit to one bank to transfer the money to my Canadian account. What I used to do was an ACHO (basically an external transfer) from one bank to the next, and it would be there the next morning and available. Well, since my bank which is connected to my Canadian one went through a transition a few weeks ago and the routing number changed. So now the routing number isn't being recognized by my Navy account so no more ACHO for the time being.
Ok no problem. The transition included remote deposit, meaning I could just write a check from my accounts and deposit it in there. The only problem is that now I have to wait for the check to clear before they will make it available.
I deposited two checks. One for $3000 and one for $1100. Both checks cleared yesterday. But when I looked at my account, they weren't available to use. So on the phone I get. And I hate calling if I can avoid it (mainly because that's what I do for my job), but in this case I needed to know what was going on. I waited for a good 15 minutes on hold and finally got a representative. When I asked when the hold would be released, I was told on the 19th.....Monday. Uh, ok. Since I work at Navy, and I know if a check has cleared, we can release the float and make the money available. So that's what I requested, and sure enough, she went ahead and did it! Yay!
So off my money went to Canada (stupid exchange rate....sure, when I move down here, the Canadian Dollar becomes worth something *evil eyes*)
And I made a $4000 payment to my MBNA account.
Balance when it will hit will be $8736
When it clears at MBNA, I will do a big update with all of the accounts we have. Most likely by Friday.
Hope your week is going well and that you have weather like I have (currently 73deg)
Have a great day! :)

How Sweet It Is! Another PIF!
This morning, I made a final transfer from my US RBC account to my Canadian RBC account.
Total amount transfered $3608 which equals out to $3527.43 (Darn Canadian dollar doing better than the US lol)
Total transfered to the RBC Visa - $3521.24 which makes it Paid In Full!
I was so excited I even took a screenshot of it!

Please ignore the New Balance, this is my Canadian account and only has real funds in it when I make transfers to it to pay the Canadian cards. If my balances ever got that low, I think I would have either a heart attack or a flashback to about 3-4 years ago when it used to happen a lot!
I don't know how folks can do the $0 balance budget. You all are very brave!
This feels AWESOME! Only one more Canadian card to go, and then we will have more money in the bank every paycheck that isn't going towards paying these, and all of that interest. I'm scared to even look at how much we've paid in interest, so I think I will just make the final payments and NOT look...I might throw myself into a fit of depression. Looking forward, not back from here on out :)

Short Post Made Long!
Made a large payment to the MBNA CC in Canada last week.
Previous balance was $15319 and with the payment (plus interest) brings it now to $12,564. That's a difference of $2755 :)
I'm hoping, and working the numbers to possibly pay off the RBC Visa here next week. Right now (and the statement hasn't cut yet, but it should tonight) the balance on that is $3453. With the interest, it will probably be roughly $3510. I'm crossing my fingers and checking the numbers over and over. I will let you know if it is gone by next week! :)
Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been packing up the house and dealing with some doctor's appointments for my weight loss and my achilles tendons. Soon, there will be some more good news (I HOPE) on a fix for those. I have a specialist appointment on monday with an Orthopaedic Surgeon to see what options I have to get back to a active life without so much pain. Heck, I hope to get back to an everyday life without pain.
No updates on the seller's bank other than they are in 'negotiations' <_<
The sellers apparently are moving out though. In fact, they were supposed to have been out by last Friday, and my realtor and I were going to check out everything on the Saturday. I received a text early in the morning from my realtor saying they were still moving and we should wait.
I drove by the house yesterday to see if they left the above ground pool (it was listed as part of the sale, and then the sellers wanted to take it....then they tried to sell it to us separately. We said no). I couldn't tell if it was there or not, but all I know is if they take it, they better take out the deck that's around it, and make the backyard look as it did when they moved in. If it's not, I will not be happy.
Anyway. That's about it for this sort of Holiday Day off for me. I am still working 5 days this week, which means that even though I didn't work today, I still get the 8 holiday hours, plus the 40 hours I normally work, meaning a 48 hour pay week. Yay! More money!
Speaking of money, I got my yearly bonus. $2650 after taxes. It all went into a Certificate that I have to almost max it out. It will mature in June. And as stated in my cruise post, it's going towards our cruise in January. I booked that cruise last week :) I am very excited that J and I will get to have a 'Real' vacation for once. We are going to take advantage of the time we'll be in Florida, and I am already saving for it all, and researching how to get the best deals with the 'points' we have. J has many United Miles, and Marriott Points. We'll see what we can do with those :)
Wow, I started out wanting to just do a quick update on the MBNA card...guess I had a lot to talk about. That's what happens when you disappear for a little bit! haha

Payments (past and future)
Since it's been a while since I've talked about any payments here, I thought I would share a few that were made and ones that will be made this week.
Made:
Car Payment was $450, and with that payment it pushed my next payment due to 03/17. Of course, since we now owe less than $9000 on it, this is one of the targets we have to pay off in the next few months.
Truck Payment continues to be $540. We got such a low interest rate on this that we'll continue to make the regular payments on this until we can budget to make extra payments to the principal.
Upcoming:
This week I will be making a $1000 payment to my Canadian MBNA Mastercard and a $500 to the RBC Visa.
The $500 payment will bring the balance below $5000 for the first time in I can't tell you how long, and the $1000 on MBNA will bring it below $17000 (in fact, it will be close to $16000, I may even be able to swing an extra amount to it here soon with help from J). I seriously can't tell you how long it's been since I've seen that number. Makes you sick how much interest we have paid in that card. I can't wait until both of those are paid off. I am thinking February they will be gone!
February is usually a good month for us money wise, as it is usually when we get our tax return and I get my yearly bonus. I will be most likely be getting $2500 after taxes for my bonus since I got an Exceeds Expectations in my last Performance Review. However, since J won't be back from Afghanistan until May, we have to file an extension and file when he gets home. We will be using a CPA for the first time ever, and I have to admit, I am actually nervous about letting someone else handle our money/taxes. I know it's their job, but I have heard too many horror stories about their CPA not doing it right and the IRS coming after you for back taxes. The only good thing about it, we will get a ton of those taxes back for the 'Foreign Earned Income' Tax credit.
I'll have to remember to keep you all informed on how that turns out.
Well, it's Sunday and unfortunately I have to work today. Tomorrow is my weekly 'day off' which means I have to fit everything in that I need to, and I will mostly likely spend half of it at Firestone having the car looked at. I think the battery is dying/dead and it needs to be replaced, and an oil change. Yay, fun times. Maybe I'll bring my laptop and blog from there!
Have a great rest of your weekend all! :)

Payday!
Hello all! Happy Friday, and Happy Birthday to Nikki at Debt Free By Thirty
Second, I was given an award by Little Lamb over at Little Lamb Wants to be Debt Free!
It's the Liebster Award. I feel very honoured that Little Lamb has passed this award on to me. Thanks! :)
"Liebster" is a German word meaning dear, sweet, kind, nice, good, beloved, lovely, kindly, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. What a gift to be awarded with such kindness! As for the details...The Liebster is a way to show a little Blog Love to bloggers who currently have less than 200 followers
The rules:
1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
2. Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
4. Have faith that your followers will spread the love to other bloggers.
5. And most of all - have fun!
Now, on to pass on the love! If you have been given this award previously, my apologies...my memory isn't what it used to be, and I may have forgotten that it has been seen before on your blog :)
1. Won't Go Down Without A Fight jpkittie has always been a good supporter for my blog, and has been crazy busy lately, but has been paying off their debt pretty darn quick! Look out CITI, you're next! :)
2. Head Over Heels.....In Debt! LOVE reading this blog. Simple and to the point. And recently some great news on the job front for her hubby, which can be stressful in it's own right.
3. Upendilife I always know that I will get my butt comment kicked by this blogger if I don't do my monthly updates....they are coming I swear! :P
Like Little Lamb, I know I only did three, but I have an excuse, I'm going to be late for work!!!
It was Payday yesterday and today for J and I.
J's getting really bored over in Afghanistan. His company has hired more people than they need, and he's not doing his normal job as much. The only bright side is he's still getting paid whether or not he's at work! Bonus!
I decided with this normal Afganistan paycheck to not really pay much with it, I want to refill the reserve that I had before J came home (I let him shop quite a bit in 30 days...after all, he is making a huge sacrifice).
Gazelle like Payments are coming in January. Watch out Canadian Cards, Car and Jeep!

Quick Update
Sorry for the lack of posting here, things were a little hectic in the countdown to J's return and then when he did return it's been fun catching up :)
I promise to get back into the swing of things here soon.
I'd like to start posting more about house hunting and what I'm doing to save money. Plus we have the new goals to look forward to when J goes back to Afghanistan (paying off the Canadian cards and the car....and the Jeep, which is AWESOME by the way :P )
Still reading all of my blogroll, so I am keeping up with that at least :)
Until then!

Another Payday Another Paydown
Today is J's payday. It's funny, with me being on vacation, the last payday occurred when I was on my way up to Canada. It doesn't seem that long ago, but here we are, another two weeks have passed!
Today, I have made payments to J's Navy Federal Visa and Mastercard for $1000 each, and to my Navy Federal Visa and Mastercard for $500 each. For a total of $3000 paid down. It won't be long before these are long gone too!
I was going to make higher payments, but I'm waiting to see if there is something that I have forgotten. I guess because I wasn't spending the money in the account when I was in Canada I ended up having more in there than I normally would (groceries, gas, etc).
I will most likely make a deposit to my Canadian credit cards to pay what I used while I was up there. One benefit of having my Canadian CCs...I don't have to pay the conversion rate when I use them!
Tomorrow will be my pay day, but so far all that I need to pay from it is my MBNA CC which depending on the conversion rate from the bank, should be $950.
On the Credit Score update, my Equifax score changed when I was in Canada from 668 to 684! I beat J lol. Although when our reports update with the changes in utilization to his Navy Federal CCs (should be $5000 difference between the two) his Equifax will probably skyrocket....well that's what I'm hoping anyway :)
Tuesday and Wednesday were No Spends for me, today and tomorrow will be another. It's pretty bad that when I was on vacation I only had 3 No Spends out of the 12 days I was up there. That's ok, still have half of the month to make my goal of 15 or else Rafiki over at Upendilife will definitely let me have it! :)
Hope your week has been good, cannot wait for the weekend!

Another Bank Bought
So last week it was ING Direct USA who was bought out by Capital One. This week my cross border bank, RBC Bank was bought by PNC. I use RBC Bank because they were the US division of my Canadian bank, RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). I am able to transfer between the two with no problem, don't have to pay any fees, and it's there instantly.
Great....now what was I to do! I still have my Canadian credit cards that I am paying on, which makes it very convenient for me to do so.
Thankfully, nothing is going to change regarding cross border banking. For now. Hopefully I will have paid off the cards before anything does.
I'm up to 6 no spend days, today should be another, so I should make my goal of the 10, perhaps more! The weight loss goal....uh, yeah, so how's the weather where you are? :P
Thank goodness the weekend is almost here. I really need to find a storage place close by this weekend. We have too much STUFF here, and it needs to be moved until we buy a house and can actually display it all (mostly re-enacting gear)
What are your plans for the weekend?

Balance Update
I don't think I have ever written about what cards we have (which is a lot!) or their balances. Shame on me.
Well, here it all is! I'm even going to include my Canadian Credit Cards, but I consider these separate as they have no affect or effect on my credit down here, which is one of the reasons for us getting rid of the CC debt (to decrease utilization, increase credit score, buy a house)
I will warn you, the Canadian cards are high balances compared to the ones down here.
Some of these are mine, and some J's and some are joint :P
